Simon served as the Member of Parliament for Barrow & Furness from 2019 – 2024. 
Prior to entering Parliament, Simon worked as a director at a not-for-profit company which prevented fraud and other financial crime, and protected vulnerable people from falling victim to fraud and scams. Before this, was in telecoms, helped run two charities, and also ran his own communications business for a number of years. Until his election, Simon was also Chair of the Barrow & District Credit Union.
In Parliament, Simon was a member of the Home Affairs Select Committee, and was the inaugural Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on AUKUS. He also Chaired the Cyber Security APPG.
In Barrow & Furness, Simon led on the creation of Team Barrow - a programme bringing together central Government, the local authority, private enterprise and others to deliver a step-change in the area and ensure delivery of the nuclear deterrent and AUKUS. In 2024 he secured over £220million of investment for Furness as a result.
In June 2023, Simon passed the Offenders (Day of Release from Detention) Bill, ending Friday releases for vulnerable prison leavers, improving their life chances and cutting re-offending.
That same month, Simon was appointed as the Government’s first Rural Connectivity Champion.
In December 2023, Simon was appointed as the Prime Minister’s Anti-Fraud Champion. .
Simon is the founder of the AUKUS Caucus, and is Director of Fraud and Financial Crime at Fullbrook Strategies.
Simon lives between Cumbria & London, has three young children and a tortoise, and is married to Pippa.
