Simon Fell is an expert in fraud and financial crime, working at the intersection of policy, industry and operational delivery.
A former Member of Parliament for Barrow & Furness and the UK Prime Minister’s Anti-Fraud Champion, Simon has worked across government, Parliament, law enforcement, regulators, industry and the third sector to tackle complex national challenges - from economic crime and cyber security to defence, connectivity and social reform.
Simon is currently Special Advisor to the Online Crime Centre, working with the City of London Police and the National Crime Agency. He also co-ordinates the Communications Crime Strategy Group, and is a Senior Advisor at Fullbrook Strategies. He advises organisations on fraud strategy, online crime, telecoms fraud, data sharing, public-private partnership and the practical delivery of policy.
During his time in Parliament, Simon served on the Home Affairs Select Committee, chaired the Cyber Security APPG, founded the AUKUS Caucus, and led the creation of Team Barrow - a partnership between government, local leaders and industry which secured more than £220 million of investment for Furness. He also led the successful campaign for Royal Town status for Barrow-in-Furness.
In 2023, Simon passed the Offenders (Day of Release from Detention) Act, ending Friday releases for vulnerable prison leavers, and was appointed the Government’s first Rural Connectivity Champion.
Before entering Parliament, Simon worked in fraud prevention, telecoms, communications and the charity sector, including as Chair of the Barrow & District Credit Union.
Simon is a Trustee at Switchback and The RAMP Project and lives between Cumbria and London.
