Let’s put an end to the unfair Garden Waste tax in Barrow!
Do you agree with me that it’s unfair for Barrow residents to pay for their waste collection, when South Lakeland, and Eden residents don’t? Help me send a message to the Council that this needs to change.
A good number of people have written to me about the unfair treatment of the new Council towards Barrow residents about the garden waste collection.
Residents of Barrow Borough are having to pay for their garden waste collection. Meanwhile, in neighbouring South Lakeland, and in Eden, residents do not have to pay for this service.
This is grossly unfair. Residents should pay the same price for the same level of service across the Council area. This is especially the case following the harmonisation of Council Tax – which saw an unprecedented 4.9% increase for Barrow ratepayers.
I’ve written to the Council’s Chief Executive calling for fairness, but I need your help to keep the pressure up.
